An overview of this opportunity is provided below. The project places FDI as the mediating mechanism between a country's structural positioning and its productivity outcomes. Rather

Dear colleagues,
We are entering a markedly different global landscape, one defined less by integration and more by fragmentation. Geopolitical tensions, sanctions, trade realignments, and the erosion of multilateral norms are no longer background conditions; they are actively reshaping how firms compete, organize, and survive.
This raises a fundamental question for our field: Are our existing theories of international business still adequate for explaining firm behavior under sustained geopolitical uncertainty?
A new Special Issue at the Journal of International Management seeks to engage this question: “How Multinational Enterprises and Traders in Emerging Markets Cope with Geopolitical Uncertainty.”

After more than three decades of economic liberalisation and deep engagement with multinational enterprises and global value chains, Latin America has seen uneven development outcomes, limited industrial upgrading, and continued reliance on primary sectors. As the global economy undergoes profound change – driven by geopolitical tensions, technological shifts, and a more fragmented, multipolar order – the region once again faces critical strategic choices.

This is a kind reminder that registration for the 4th Conference for Global Innovation and IP (https://giip.info/events/cmhodus7h000z7d217d8hh2f4) will be closed in four weeks. The updated program is attached to this message.

Global competition is increasingly defined by rivalry for technological leadership, where firm performance and institutional strength are closely intertwined. Across sectors such as healthcare, AI, and electric vehicles, firms navigate fast-changing environments shaped by active state involvement. Dear colleagues,
This message is about videos and possible webinars on Measurement Error and Research Design. I authored a book of the same title about two decades ago - a most minute and intuitive dissection of measurement error and what it means for research design. I also had the privilege of teaching a PhD seminar on this topic for several decades. During the pandemic, I offered online workshops that aimed to enable deep understanding of measurement error and how it translates to the measurement of one thing and the measurement (or manipulation) of many things (i.e., the method). Strategizing in a Fractured World: MNE Responses to Fragmented Stakeholder and Institutional Pressures

Aim and Scope
The global environment is becoming increasingly fractured. Geopolitical tensions in the Taiwan Strait, the ongoing war in Ukraine, instability around key trade routes such as the Strait of Hormuz, and growing rivalry between major powers are reshaping the landscape of international business.
For firms operating across borders, these developments translate into fragmented institutional environments and conflicting stakeholder expectations across markets.

The first article (by Maria Luiza Carvalho de Aguillar Pinho, Celso Roberto de Aguillar Pinho, Attila Yaprak, Leigh Anne Liu & S. The authors argue that tensions are ongoing and interconnected contradictions, intensified by the institutional and cultural diversity encountered in the MNE’s global environment.

Dear friends of GIIP<https://giip.info/>,

We are happy to announce that GIIP4<https://giip.info/events/cmhodus7h000z7d217d8hh2f4> is now ready for registration.

Global competition is increasingly defined by rivalry for technological leadership, where firm performance and institutional strength are closely intertwined. Across sectors such as healthcare, AI, and electric vehicles, firms navigate fast-changing environments shaped by active state involvement. Thus, the coordination and competition among public and private actors across nations will shape the future trajectories of the global markets.

Dear AIB community,

The so-called blue economy, an economy connected to our oceans, represents the 7th largest economy in the world. Despite the critical role played by the world’s oceans, management scholarship (and IB in particular) has engaged with oceanic contexts in a relatively limited and uneven way. The aim of this Business & Society Special Issue is to encourage cross-disciplinary research that examines oceans as a business–society nexus. It focuses on how blue economy activities interact with governance arrangements and social justice considerations, and how such interactions shape the economic, social, and ecological dimensions of

This Special Issue addresses an important yet underexplored question in international business research: how multinational enterprises operate in emerging markets where environmental governance frameworks are weak or absent.
