Thanks, this is great info! I’ve been running this for a while on my personal machine without any adverse effects. Of course, haven’t actually seen it in action, but I’m heartened to hear it apparently does what its supposed to do. Unless anyone can come up with reasons otherwise, it really seems I would have nothing to lose by expanding  the use of this throughout my entire department.

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has seen this utility yet? It’s called RansomFree. It’s apparently a supplement to traditional AV, and works by monitoring processes, and alerting you if any process is doing anything suspicious like trying to encrypt files. A Lifehacker article is here:
