On July 1st 2015, MSU Telecom Systems will be making changes to the voicemail platform that currently serves campus.  A summary of these changes for Avaya and Non-Avaya Phone users follows:

For users with Avaya Phones, on July 1st:

-          Voicemail boxes will be moved to the new Avaya Aura Messaging System.

-          Unless you had initialized the mailbox in the new system (you can do so after June 17th), the mailbox will be limited in ways that include:

o   Voicemails will not automatically be forwarded to email as they are today for users that have that feature setup.

o   Callers will hear generic greetings and your name will be stated by a text to speech program.

o   Message retrieval will be accomplished by dialing a new number, or using the message buttons on your Avaya phone.

-          Messages that were left prior to July 1st will continue to exist at the legacy voicemail system and can be retrieved by dialing 517-432-2100 or 2-2100.

REQUIRED ACTION (June 17th-July 1st):

o   Initialize your mailbox, by logging to your new mailbox by calling the NEW Avaya Aura number 2-0000 or 517-432-0000 and using your current voicemail password (or ‘STATE’ if your password does not meet the new security requirements).  This initialization will require you to change your password, and it is recommended that you also record your name and record your greeting.

o   Re-enable the voicemail-to-email forwarding by visiting http://www.telecom.msu.edu/vm and typing your email under the preferences/notify me/voicemail notification feature.

o   Plan to use your new mailbox to retrieve new messages after July 1st. You may wish to have a quick reference guide available and to program the new number into the speed dials and contact information of your communication devices.

For users without Avaya Phones, on July 1st:

-          Voicemail-to-email forwarding will continue to function as it did before the change.

-          Access to the Unified Messaging Website (http://messaging.telecom.pp.msu.edu) will no longer be available.  (This can be used to make changes to your Unified Messaging options, such as setting the email address that you are forwarding to or creating lists.)

REQUIRED ACTION: Changes to email forwarding will require a service request to IPF Telecom Systems on and after this date.
