We have been receiving calls of a suspicious nature where the caller is asking for model and serial number of the printer you print to. When I asked this person for his full name, department, and title, he asked to put me on hold and hung up. He has been making his rounds and has called a half dozen people in my department alone. It suspiciously sounds like a scam that has been around for a long time where they use the information to send you low grade supplies and invoice you for an exorbitant amount (if they show up at all). The "scam artists" assume, that the invoice will get paid due to "paper work shuffle." You will want to communicate to your staff to decline to provide any details, even if you are offered "amazing deals" on toner, and to know who their vendors for supplies are.
