IMPORTANT!!  The venue for this meeting has changed!  It will be held at the MSUFCU's brand new Farm Lane Branch, at 4825 E. Mt. Hope Road which is on campus, at the northeast corner of Mt. Hope and Farm Lane.  (DO NOT GO TO THE MSUFCU HEADQUARTERS!)

Lansing ISSA's Russell Lahti, one of two speakers at this meeting, is Director of Technology & Systems at Comlink.  Russell has been with Comlink for over 8 years designing and deploying data center hosting facilities and high-speed state-wide data networks.  He has also worked in I.T., Network, and Security fields for 15 years supporting customers across several industries.  Russell has first hand experience combating a variety of denial-of-service attacks, and has developed custom mitigation appliances to help safeguard customer networks.

Mr. Lahti's talk will be an overview of the threat posed by Denial of Service (DoS) attacks, and the steps that can be taken to help mitigate their impact.  There will be a presentation of attacks commonly seen in the wild, and resources provided to help in testing and validating your own infrastructure.

Subject: Lansing ISSA / ISACA Breakfast meeting!
Reply-To: Jimmy L Butt Jr <[log in to unmask]>

Hello to all Lansing ISSA members and friends of ISSA!  We have another chapter meeting that’s fast approaching and this is your first notification of it.

Like last month, we are having a joint meeting with a nearby chapter of another, related professional association.  The Western Michigan chapter of ISACA (previously known as the Information Systems Audit and Control Association, an international association) will join us for breakfast(!) to hear two speakers and to discuss their topics.

Scott Larsen, with the State of Michigan, will present the role of Security Information Event Management (SIEM) in auditing and compliance, and our own Russell Lahti, with COMLINK (formerly Great Lakes Comnet), will discuss Denial of Service risk mitigation!

And since this IS a breakfast, our starting/ending times are different!
