Note that this thread has also gone meta in 
talking about itself (e.g. both Ryan's and mine 
here).  And devolved into snipes about 
grammar.  All of which adds to the message count.

BTW, since I used the term "Nazi" (in calling 
myself a grammar Nazi), does Godwin's Law apply?
