A bit about account switching…

I have a Google Apps account for an organization that I'm involved with.  I also have a personal Gmail account.  They DO have an account switching feature which works pretty well for switching between accounts in the same browser window.

Granted, the google apps account is not on our own organizational hardware, so I don't know how it will work with MSU's Apps setup…

It also means you can't use your @msu.edu address as the "backup address" which you can use to regain access to your @gmail.com (or other Google address) account. 

It also means that if you want to access your personal calendar/gmail account and your MSU Google docs account, you will need two separate browsers (or some tricks like multiple profiles in the same browser, but that's still two windows). That's probably going to be the biggest nuisance out of all of this for me.

Google gives MSU some special software to run on MSU's servers. It is still tied into Googles main database but the files are held on MSU servers (I'm assuming here). Ok, I've been getting several questions from my users about this, and I
just want to make sure that what I'm passing on to them is correct.  As
far as I can tell from reading what was mailed out, as long as people
are not using their msu email address to log into their current google
account, they should be ok.  Any idea if that's correct?  I know my
average users are finding it particularly difficult to interpret what
was sent out, and quite frankly, I've read the document several times
and *I'm* not positive I've got it figured out.

Also, any idea when information about this was first sent out?  The
first I heard about it was 3 days ago, but I don't think I remember
having seen anything sent to me about it, so I don't know if it started
before that.  3 days in the middle of the summer seems a little on the
short side to me.
