Okay, both of you have illustrated my point perfectly; sticker is more visual for the rest who needed that. I also wanted to point out that I am willing to be active, but what I have seen so far the only way to be active is to be a board member of the union or a body member... pretty big gap of duties, and position of influence.
I am not try to point out a broken system, I am just saying in my overall point that I am appreciative of any bargaining done on my behalf that can benefit me, but the same bargaining units negotiate for less financial commitment from its members and the CT union has optical as a benefit. It is apples and oranges, so don't crazy NAG members. I am too new to have a vast retirement portfolio to just scoff at this raise like some of you. (being sarcastic so again, don't get after me) With that being said, I can't just accept a brochure, or email that says "guess what, motion 123 passed and dues are going up, and congratulations you still have health insurance." That seems pretty much like "Taxation without representation" to me... I am quoting here.
Alas, it is too late to change something now, but who can tell me outside of the board, and union stewards right now, what is on the agenda for the next union meeting, where it is at, time and still repeat the old minutes from the previous meetings? I know some of you are going to post something to show a few answers here, but read that question carefully and imagine my point.

Not to feed the flames, but that is kind of a poor analogy. The reason you
still have to pay the dues, even if you decide to not be a member is because
you are afforded the same benefits that the union has fought and negotiated
for. A better analogy would be that you still get to park in the ramp and
you still pay for the privilege, but you just don't have the sticker.
