I can see how it could be annoying being forced to support a union when you don't want to. On the other hand, it seems like an AP employee might be benefitting from the union's presence. Do you think our health benefits would be as good as they still are, if the Coalition of Unions hadn't formed and together pushed thru some new ideas on cost reductions? Ummm, where would the money come from, if not from dues? The only other possible source that I can think of would be the Union board, personally. And that would seem to be a very bad idea, who would want to provide leadership then. (but perhaps that is the desire...) And you say "in trouble", I wouldn't characterize it that way. It's America, anybody can sue anybody. I think there were four cases, all of them thrown out, seemed very frivolous to me. It is at the point that the union should sue them back to recover legal fees, IMHO.
