The Network Communications Community CAFE exists to provide a group for
discussions of issues related to networking infrastructure, including
design, configuration, networked devices and services, as well as best
practices, guidelines, and policy. The NCC-CAFE provides advice to the
Vice Provost for Libraries, Computing and Technology, as well as
investigating matters related to the MSU networks for all members of
the MSU Community.

Each year, a Steering Committee of NCC-CAFE members reviews a list of
topics proposed by members of the MSU community, and chooses those
topics for the group to focus on for the academic year. Past topics have
included:

Developing guidelines for securing network hardware devices
Developing guidelines for network use while traveling (in development)
Creating a "state of the MSU Networks document" to describe the current
state and projected future development of networks on the campus.

NCC-CAFE needs your help. If there are areas of networking that you
think need more attention on campus, or places where network guidelines
should exist (or should be improved), please let us know. You can post a
message in the General Discussion section of the NCC forum at

http://forums.msu.edu

or send email directly to me, the current NCC-CAFE chairman, at

you are interested in more information about the group's activities. I
thank you in advance for any contributions you can make toward this
efforts.
