I don't use access at all but we had a similar issue with excel where the default path that it saves its spreadsheet to was not accessible or incorrect and it took about 30 seconds to time out. Perhaps something similar is going on here. We are having a problem when you go into the design view Access stop responding for 10 to 30 seconds. It's running on a Vista computer and we have tried it on a XP we have the same problem.
