I’m writing in response to the emails that circulated
today regarding poor turnaround time on Microsoft media purchases form the MSU
Computer Store. First let me make clear we are talking about media only,
license orders are processed the day we receive the order so there is virtually
no wait. Regarding media purchases we recently took the step to begin
stocking common Microsoft media such as Office Professional, MAC Office,
Windows XP Pro, Windows Vista Business, and Windows Server Enterprise
2008. Our in-stock list continues to grow but we are cautious about
stocking too many titles because the media is non-returnable to Microsoft.
It is true that we’ve had troubles with our current
vendor ever since they were purchased by a new company several months
ago. MSU Purchasing is in the process of reviewing our options to re-bid
the Microsoft contract. The current contract expires in August but we
plan to have a resolution well before then.
Please keep in mind that purchasing through the Computer
Store saves the university money in the long run, so whenever possible it is
recommended to use the Computer Store for your purchases. As always,
please feel free to contact me directly any time you are having a problem with
our service.
