v3 will cause hard lockups and no events in the event log.  I ran into 
this on plain vanilla domain controllers and member servers, 2003 and 
2008. 

I haven't encountered any issues on workstations with v3 (Vista and XP), 
just servers.  I run v2 on the servers and it's fine.
