On Wednesday, March 5, 2008 (during Spring break)
Academic Computing and Network Services (ACNS) will implement another phase of
improvements to electrical power in the Computer Center. There will be brief
interruptions to mail.msu.edu and NetID services in the morning and evening;
all other online services provided by ACNS will remain online, including the
campus network and Internet connections. Portable generators will supply
electricity to the second floor Datacenter; the rest of the Computer Center will
be without electrical power and the building will be closed.
The upgrade will begin at 6:00 a.m. and is scheduled to
be completed by 6:30 p.m.
Offices in the Computer Center will be closed throughout
the day, including Computer Repair, the Scoring Office, the Computer Store, the
ACNS Business Office, and the ACNS walk-in Help Desk (telephone Help Desk
service will be available at 517-432-6200). Public Computer Labs in rooms 210,
403 and 415 in the Computer Center will be closed. Other offices within the
Computer Center, including the Client Advocacy Office, the Artificial Language
Laboratory, and the office of the Vice Provost for Libraries, Computing, and
Technology are expected to be closed throughout the day.
