Back in Novemeber I purchased the XPS 700 from Dell for personal use and some 20 days later Dell announced the Windows Vista upgrade path for the XPS 700. I missed the cutoff date for this and just recently got Vista on my workstation by other means (wasn't able to get a free copy from Dell in the mail) and found out my NVIDIA SCSI RAID driver wasn't compatible with Vista. Aside from the degraded RAID notifications I get at boot up, the system still works fine. But I just came across a website where Dell is offering qualifying XPS 700 customers a free motherboard replacement for this scenario and the Intel QX6700 quad core processor for 25% off, if you choose to do so. They're also offering free on-site installation for this upgrade. The upgrade program is located at https://www.xpsupgradeprogramdell.com/Pages/Default.aspx and I just thought I'd pass it on as it appears to end on 10/13/2007. This program to me is just another reason why I stay Dell-loyal when buying my computers. There goes another $1,000 on a quad-core processor I wasn't intending to spend today.... </sigh> Chris Harper INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST University Relations / Michigan State University 401 Olds Hall, East Lansing, MI 48824-1047 Email: [log in to unmask] / Direct: 517.355.9980 Web: http://ur.msu.edu / Cell: 517.290.5496
