I’d give R-Studio a try before sending the drive anywhere.
I pulled twenty gig off a drive that had been through a recovery service and a
hotshot recovery program at another company both of which said it was
non-recoverable. I used to recommend On-Track, and still would for clean room
service.
The demo will let you preview what is recoverable and you can
register it at that point.
Good luck.

That
probably depends upon how damaged the drive is. If the drive is still
accessible then I would try Capital Data in Lansing:

On
the bother hand, if the data is really messed up and you have a large budget,
then OnTrack is hard to beat:

Does anyone have a recommendation for a company that can
retrieve data from a damaged hard drive?
