Steve,

We've done some initial testing of SPF and SRS testing on our development
servers. They both seemed to work fine, but there's been no decision made if
we're going to implement either technology at this point. Its still being
considered, and I will forward your concerns to senior management.

One concern I have are the different on campus servers and services that
send email as "@msu.edu". If we implement a SPF record, it could cause some
issues.

I'm curious, are you going to implement SPF checking for spam tagging only
or outright blocking?

During testing I noticed that I had to turn off SPF checking, this was due to how forwarding from mail.msu.edu works (which 800+ users at our college currently use). Email forwarding breaks because mail.msu.edu forwards email without modifying the envelope sender (http://www.openspf.org/FAQ/Forwarding). It seems that the only two workarounds for this problem are to either whitelist mail.msu.edu or implement SRS (on mail.msu.edu). So I guess my question is if there are any plans for this issue to be addressed by the mail.msu.edu team?
