What you're seeing is changes being put in from the beta testing and the study done by the Usability Center. We took the possibly risky step of leaving the beta site open to the public as we put in fixes and improvemnts. We do not plan a formal second round of testing at this point. If you click "contact us" and submit a comment, we'll put it in the pipeline. But design and development are in moratorium at this point pending completion and release of the site. Things in the pipeline probably won't get implemented until late Spring or Summer. Did I miss an announcement about a new round of beta testing for the web site? All of a sudden the beta home page is much improved. The default font size is still too small to be useful to me, but when I choose the "ignore font sizes" option it all displays nicely. There is no more occluding of the text by the navigation menu on the left. John Gorentz W.K. Kellogg Biological Station
