This issue came to our attention early this term. There was supposed to be some notice going up on Angel and the ACNS Wireless pages. I've no idea what the status of that is.

Some of the databases and journals we subscribe to are limited in various ways. The electronic versions are usually constrained by IP ranges.

Some are limited to campus use. Anyone on campus can use them.
Some are limited to campus IP addresses, hence the proxy. Anyone with an MSU Net ID can use them.

Some are limited to certain buildings. For instance, some business data sources can only be accessed inside the Gast Business Library IP range. Some only within the main library.

Adding IP ranges to the some of these data sources is not possible contractually, other are prohibitively expensive.

Infotrac is definately one of the IP limited resources.

Not sure who should get this, but Infotrac for the library's electronic
resource database does not work with MUSNet Wireless IP addresses.
(35.13 I think). Sure, you could use the proxy, but that seems counter
productive.
