Since both these topics have been in the news and part of recent discussions on campus, I wanted to share this EFF news brief. It announces EFF leading a class action lawsuit against Sony for its most recent spyware/rootkit as well as an earlier DRM/Spyware called Sunncom software included on earlier Sony/BMG cds. EFF also announced it has joined a petition asking for a stay on the FCC ruling emanding that broadband Internet access providers and interconnected Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) providers include backdoors for wiretaps in their services by Spring of 2007.
