I recently sent a request for EDU pricing on a Snort rule subscription to the Source Fire folks and received the reply below. Is this something that we should get a site license for? Do enough people on campus use Snort to warrant it? If so the normal price for the rule subscription is $1795.00 per year. One subscription is all you need to cover all sensors that protect your university's network. Michigan State does not currently have a subscription. As an educational institute, you are entitled to a 30% discount off any subscription. Please let me know if you have any additional questions or would like a formal quote.
