I have been looking without success for rails that would enable me to install several older Dell PowerEdge servers in a rack. The servers in question are PowerEdge 6400s, 6300s, and 4400s (total of 5 servers). Dell had a kit (Dell part number 310-0517-R) that would do exactly what I want, but when they decide to end support for this vintage server, the discontinued the rack hardware too. Working with a Dell rep, they referred me to a company called Rack Solutions. Rack Solutions can only offer me a sliding shelf unit for our servers, which takes up 1U of space in a rack. This really isn't an optimal situation, essentially wasting 5U of space for shelves that don't really secure the servers as well as the proper hardware would. I've done some web searching but as of yet have not been able to find this rackmount kit anywhere. I was hoping someone might still have a stock available. Does anyone on the list have this type of hardware in use now? Is there any possibility that you may be sending servers of this vintage to Salvage soon, and wouldn't need the mounting hardware? Any help in this regard would be greatly appreciated.
