I would tell them this is not an efficient use of the MSU network to allow
the friends and family plan.  Once students come back the lines will be tied
up enough without a staff, student or faculty member busying out two modems.

 

Access to the internet is not free, it costs the university money to support
the infrastructure.  

 

This is the reason we have AOL, another NETID or Comcast.  This is the fair
and appropriate way to approach that problem.
