Presentation:
Reconsidering
CFML in Modern Web App Development
By
Charlie Arehart, Chief Technical Officer, New Atlanta Communications
(http://www.newatlanta.com)
If
you've been around Web development for a few years, you've probably heard of ColdFusion and CFML, the markup language it popularized.
Perhaps you've dismissed both and would wonder if either has
a place still in modern web app development.
There
have been many changes in CFML to keep up with the times, and it's no longer
proprietary. There's even a free CFML server, capable of all the latest technologies
from XML to Web services to component- oriented dvelopment.
CFML can even integrate deeply with Java and J2EE and, now via BlueDragon, .NET.
In
this presentation, veteran CFML developer, trainer, and writer Charlie Arehart
will make the case for CFML. He actually "wrote the book" on the
subject as contributor to last year's "CFMX Bible" from Wiley, and he
has a regular column in the CF
Developers Journal (which he formerly tech edited). Now as CTO of New Atlanta,
makers of Blue Dragon, he continues to present to conferences, fortune 500
companies, and any other groups with an investment in CFML--or who may come to
appreciate its renewed strenghts on J2EE and NET.
This
talk will not be a sales pitch for his company's product or services. It's a
sincere and reasoned look at the case for CFML today, especially for those who
would normally dismiss it. The times are indeed changing, and many are finding
that CFML's ease of use has a new lease on life.
If
you have questions in advance about the presentation, Charlie can be reached at
