The virtual host that hosts help.msu.edu/status, W3VH, went down. Another address that has that status info is: http://remsrv.cl.msu.edu/status/ If it's network status you seek, I don't think there have been any major changes, but performance should be continuing to improve as the network management group blocks more infected computers, and as people with infections get patched and disinfected. Yesterday they blocked another 1000 computers, bringing the total blocked to 4000. Some number have been unblocked, but I don't have precise numbers on that. We're continuing to try to reach students with the urgent message they need to patch and disinfect. We've tried the State News, signs in dorms, assistance of mentors (what we used to call RAs), e-mail to all students, warnings on the University Housing Channel, and a public service announcement on Impact 89 student radio. If you as network administrators have ideas on how to reach students through your departments, we'd welcome your assistance. A footnote from Doug that might be interesting: the Welchia worm is causing the vast majority of network damage right now. It's possible that it actually did go clean up Blaster on many infected computers, but Welchia's own attempts to worm into other computers are equally destructive. /rich >http://help.msu.edu/status/ is returning this: > >The requested URL /status/status_summary.php was not found on this server. > >-- >*Gene Willacker* >Systems Analyst >Michigan State University >Food Stores Building >East Lansing, MI 48824 >/1-517-353-1691/
