Information Technologist I, to manage the Department's Windows 2000
Domain computers and other standalone computers.  See the job

held by Rob Neary, who is now working at U of M.

This vacancy is part of a job group that is underutilized for
minorities.

REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in computer science, data processing,
business, or a related field; three years of related and progressively
more responsible or expansive work experience related to the duties to
be performed including complex Windows 2000/NT Server administration and
Windows XP/2000/NT/98/95 Client installation, configuration,
maintenance, backup, troubleshooting, and end-user support; or an
equivalent combination of education and experience.

DESIRED: experience in Windows 2000 Server administration skills: MS
Active Directory administration, MS SQL Server, multi-homed MS IIS
Server, Arcserve Backup Server, File and Print Server, Media Server and
Windows-Unix connectivity software; experience with MS Office (Word,
Excel, PowerPoint), MS Access, Web browsers, email systems, utility
software, and other physics and math applications, equation editors;
experience with multi-vendor networking and network applications
(TCP/IP, Appletalk, X-Windows, DHCP, AFS, home networking, wireless
networking), systems security, Web application development, database
application development and programming; MCSE certification; excellent
communication, organization, and interpersonal skills; experience with
Unix and/or Linux systems.

BASIC FUNCTION: manages the department’s Windows 2000 domain computers
and other standalone computers; maintenance of six Windows 2000 servers
and approximately 200 Windows and Macintosh computers; analyzes
computing and networking requests and problems; finds solutions that
satisfy department members’ complex and varied needs; works as a member
of the department’s Computer Services team to develop and implement
plans for upgrades, disaster recovery, and for streamlining maintenance
of PCs and servers including Unix and Linux computers; supervises
student staff in testing, troubleshooting, resolving problems, and
answering computing questions.
