This individual will assist Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Wildlife staff with projects associated with fisheries research and management on Lake Erie. This is a 2-year position located at the Sandusky Fisheries Research Station Unit, Sandusky, Ohio. Duties include field and office work and may require working in inclement weather, evenings, and occasional weekends.



Primary activities include collecting fisheries-dependent and fisheries-independent data to inform population assessments and research that directly inform interagency management. The individual in this position will contribute to the preparation of reports and manuscripts using assessment data; conduct research on a pre-determined project; and contribute to assessment and research activities at the Sandusky Fisheries Research Station.  Duties to also include: sample processing, data entry, data analysis, data summarization, and facilities management.



Required qualifications include:

  *   Bachelor’s degree (by Jan. 1, 2023) in Fisheries Management, Aquatic Ecology, or related field
  *   One year of experience in fisheries/aquatic/habitat sampling
  *   Statistical and data management skills
  *   Demonstrated ability with written and verbal skills

Preferred qualifications include:

  *   experience sampling fish populations using electrofishing, gillnets, or bottom trawls
  *   experience with angler harvest assessment surveys
  *   familiar with statistical analysis of large and/or complex fisheries datasets using R

The targeted hiring range for this position is $15.00 - 18.51/hourly.
