FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Department of Physical Sciences at Kingsborough Community College of The City University of New York invites applications for a tenure-track position with the appointment beginning in Fall 2017. Appointment at the assistant professor level is anticipated but exceptional senior candidates will be considered. Prior instructional experience at the college or university level is preferred but is required only for appointment as Associate/Full Professor. Research interests in all areas will be considered, but preference will be given to candidates whose scholarly research interests include undergraduate science education for both science majors and non-science majors. Performs teaching, research and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise. Shares responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.
Perform instructional, scholarly and institutional service duties at an outstanding level. The position requires adherence to Department, College and University policies and procedures. The faculty handbook provides a complete description of faculty responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in chemistry, earth and planetary science, engineering, physics or closely related field at the time of the appointment and be capable of outstanding instruction, scholarship, research, and institutional service. Post-doctoral or equivalent research experience beyond doctoral work is preferred. Preference will be given to candidates whose scholarly research interests include undergraduate science education for both science majors and non-science majors.
For Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor:
Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
