Have you chose to use your DNS servers for the domain in question,
rather than the campus DNS servers that are assigned with the DHCP
address?

I have a pc that has been running on dhcp for months. Today I tried to
make a member of the domain. Whenever I click "Change" and select the
domain that is going to join, I get an error that talks on how the
domain can not be found.
A friend who I happened to walk with inside of a hallway told me
something about the file C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\lmhosts that
sometimes causes problems when a computer has been in dhcp, standalone
and is moved to a domain.
Does any body had this problem before? any insights?
