It fails, because Adobe Distiller, which handles the conversion, tries
to "print" the document to the Acrobat Printer driver, which is not
installed. It was one of the first thing we tried.

I have not seen that happen on the two installs I have done with Vista
Ultimate and Adobe 7.0 pro. However I am hoping you can find the
adobe
icon under the programs menu and right click on it and select run as
administrator.
Leave that minimized then have him open word and try to make a pdf. I
am curious as to the outcome of that test.
Please.

Subject: [MSUNAG] Adobe 8 Pro and Win Vista issue
Has anyone out there run across this particular problem?
I have a user with Windows Vista, fully patched, and he tried to
install Acrobat 8 Pro on the computer. Everything says it installs
correctly under the Complete Install option. However, in actuality,
the
Adobe Printer doesn't show up under the list of available printers,
and
doesn't appear to be installed correctly. Since Adobe Distiller uses
that printer to "print" PDF files when you convert from other formats
to
PDF, this generally means you can't convert Word or WordPerfect files
to
PDF.
Adobe support forums aren't much help. Several acknowledge that this
is a "known problem", but no one has a clear solution other than
uninstall, reinstall, and hope it works the next time.
Has anyone had this or a similar problem, and how did you resolve it?
Any additional information or suggestions would be greatly
appreciated.
