Subject: Computing.msu.edu offers information about MSU computing services
This fall semester, Libraries, Computing and Technology launched and has
been improving a new Web site, computing.msu.edu, which offers one-stop
access to information about computing services at MSU. The site features:
-- A browsable A-Z index of computing services
-- At-a-glance view of any current or recent service outages, and planned
maintenance events
-- Computing news: service improvements, tips and techniques, etc.
-- A search function covering MSU's new computing knowledge base as well
as computing-related Web sites at MSU
-- Separate menus tailored for students or faculty/staff/departmental views
Computing.msu.edu serves as a starting point when you seek information or
pathways related to MSU computing. Its focus is computing from the customer
point of view. Service status items help users to be aware of known system
problems, both current and recent, and of upcoming maintenance events that
may affect services. The knowledge base (accessed through the search box on
computing.msu.edu) contains a large and growing library of articles
providing technical background and how-to assistance for users.
The general computing help desk site, help.msu.edu, also has been
redesigned. Most of the content on help.msu.edu is now dynamic, drawing
from the knowledge base and ACNS' Remedy problem tracking system.
Computing.msu.edu and help.msu.edu are maintained by Academic Computing and
Network Services (ACNS) in consultation with other LCT units and with the
LCT advisory committees. Administrative Information Services (AIS), MSU
Libraries, and other LCT units contribute to this effort to bring a more
uniform view to computing news and service status reporting.
