Dr. Gary Roloff in the Applied Forest and Wildlife Ecology Lab will be hiring 3 field technicians to conduct wildlife-forestry work throughout Michigan this spring and summer.

Duties include deploying acoustic recording devices to sample songbirds, maintaining and deploying trail cameras, and maintaining and sampling vegetation in deer exclosures. Study sites extend from the tip of the Keewenaw Peninsula to just south of Grayling, so travel and overnight stays will be required.

Transportation and lodging will be provided, and the positions will pay $17/hour for 40-hour weeks.

Positions start April 1 and extend through August 1. During the academic year (April and May), individuals interested in working weekends are needed. Minimal experience is required as you will be trained in field protocols, but individuals that are comfortable working in and traversing remote environments, can tolerate uncomfortable field conditions at times, prioritize safety, and be a contributing part of a team are needed.

Please contact Dr. Roloff ([log in to unmask]) if interested and he will send you a job announcement once the positions are officially posted through MSU's system.
