SUMMARY:
This position is with the National Wildlife Research Center (NWRC), Management of Ungulate Damage and Disease (MUDD) Project located in Fort Collins, CO. The work is primarily concerned with wildlife damage management operations relating to the assessment, reduction, and/or elimination of problems associated with wild and/or feral animal species in urban, suburban, and rural environments. The program addresses wildlife damage problems to protect agriculture, property, natural resources and human health and safety.

Specifically, the funding for this position comes from a USDA grant to evaluate rapid deployment fences for containing or excluding feral swine during emergency response situations related to foreign animals diseases. The incumbent will be responsible for helping to design, conduct, analyze, and write results related to a field study testing multiple types of fencing. The incumbent will be located in Fort Collins, Colorado, with frequent travel to a TBD study site (likely in the southeastern US). Filed work will include trapping and handling feral swine, heavy lifting, building fence, monitoring remote cameras, and adverse climatic conditions. Office work will include data organizing, data analysis, and writing results. The position has funding for 2 years, but second year is dependent on performance.
