We are delighted to announce the April webinar organized by the Africa Chapter of the Academy of International Business! This webinar will feature two thoughtful academics, both with deep research and practical engagement with the African context:

 

Professor Abel Kinoti (Dunis University of International Studies, Senegal) 

Abel Kinoti is Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship and Business Management and a social business incubation consultant. He has extensive experience, spanning over 25 years of teaching, researching, consulting, and developing undergraduate and graduate business curricula. Currently associated with Dunis University of International Studies, he served as Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor – Academic Affairs and founding Dean of the School of Business at Riara University in Nairobi. He was also the founding Chair of the AIB-Africa Chapter, taking the organization from a flicker of an idea to a vibrant group. Abel has been instrumental in facilitating international partnership projects, including Accelerating Entrepreneurship Support in Universities (AESU) in Kenya, a program funded by the British Council’s Innovation for African Universities (IAU).  He also spearheaded the hosting of the UNCTAD 14 parallel session on Sustainable and Responsible Investment. He has headed the China Research Centre, under the Built and Road Initiative, hosted by the Institute of Foreign Affairs (IAS), Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GUFS), Guangzhou, China, since 2018.

Professor Rajneesh Narula (University of Reading, UK)

Rajneesh Narula OBE is Professor of International Business Regulation at the Henley Business School, and Director of both the Dunning Africa Centre and the John Dunning Centre for international business. A prolific author, he is passionate about improving the development outcomes from foreign investment across the developing world. He regularly acts as a consultant and advisor to the European Commission, UNIDO, UNCTAD and the OECD, World Bank, as well as a variety of other international organizations, governments, and consulting firms. In 2017, he was appointed an Honorary Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE), in recognition of his Services to Business Research. He is a regular commentator on business and economics issues. He obtained his BEng from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria Nigeria, an MBA and PhD from Rutgers University, USA. His work focuses on the role of multinational firms in development, innovation and industrial policy, technological change in developing countries, R&D alliances and outsourcing.

 

Given their extensive experience, they will discuss opportunities (and challenges) associated with “Combining Research and Action in Africa”.

 

The discussion will be moderated by members of the AIB-Africa organizing team.
