Her research interests are in how knowledge (and with it technology, organisational practices, and innovation) moves between more and less developed countries. She researches both organisational mechanisms (notably emerging multinationals and internet-enabled businesses) and individual mechanisms such as scientific collaborations, doctoral training, and the diaspora. Her research examines how these processes play out in the often turbulent African context. Prof Barnard has published in the Journal of Management (ABS4*), Journal of International Business Studies (ABS4*), Research Policy (ABS4*), Journal of World Business (ABS4) and others. She was on the organising committee for the Academy of Management Africa conference at GIBS in 2013, was the Academy of International Business (AIB) Vice President for Administration for 2017 to 2020 and serves as the founding chair of the AIB Shared Interest Group in Emerging Markets. She was the 2018-2019 Dunning Fellow at the John H Dunning Centre for International Business at Reading University. She has been rated as an internationally recognised scholar by the South African National Research Foundation. Nana Yaa A. Gyamfi is Lecturer of Management at China Europe International Business School (CEIBS). She earned her Ph.D. and MRes. in Management from IESE Business School. Dr. Gyamfi’s research interests are cultural identity, identity theory, identity resources, multinational work contexts, and emerging markets. Her research is published in Academy of Management Review, Oxford Research Encyclopaedia of Business and Management, Journal of Management, Spirituality & Religion, Advances in Global Leadership and Research in Accounting in Emerging Economies. Dr. Gyamfi won the award for best dissertation in International Management at the 2023 Academy of Management Conference, where she was also selected as one of the IM Division’s best reviewers. She was a nominee of the FIU/AIB Best Theory Paper Award at the 2021 Academy of International Business Conference and won an Emerald Literati Award for Outstanding Author Contribution in 2020. Dr. Gyamfi has taught classes on international management, organizational behavior, and human resource management in CEIBS Global EMBA, MBA and executive education programmes in Shanghai and Accra. She has coached intercultural teams and has consulting experience involving transformation of fledgling ideas into thriving start-ups in Ghana. Anastacia Mamabolo is an Associate Professor at the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) and was a visiting researcher at Michigan State University in 2022/2023. She teaches research design and methodology on various postgraduate programmes at GIBS. Prof Mamabolo’s research focuses on the interlink between entrepreneurship, human capital, and religion. She was involved in GIBS Project Orbit, which explored African business and management in Nigeria, Botswana, Kenya, Namibia, and Zimbabwe. In 2021/2022, she led the Entrepreneurship Scoping study in seven African countries (South Africa, Botswana, Malawi, Mali, Kenya, Senegal, and Nigeria) focusing on Entrepreneurial Ecosystems. In 2022/2023, she led a team of researchers from Morocco, Nigeria, Tanzania, and South Africa on a research project to explore the hidden entrepreneurial businesses that significantly contribute to innovation and economic development. She has presented at international conferences and published articles in peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of World Business, the International Review of Entrepreneurship, and the Journal of Social Entrepreneurship. She is recognised by the South African National Research Foundation as an emerging scholar and received the Distinguished Young Woman Researcher Award for Humanities and Social Sciences, presented by the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation in South Africa. Joan Lilian Ogendo is a Senior Lecturer in Strategy and International Business at The Technical University of Kenya. She holds PhD and MBA from The University of Nairobi; BSc. in International Business from USIU; A Certified Public Accountant; An Associate Counsellor; and the Founder & CEO of Emerald-El Jay Management Consultants. She has corporate work experience in health, finance, audit and manufacturing organizations, both locally and in Multinational Enterprises; as Finance and Administration Manager, General Manager, Senior Auditor and Project Officer in Finance. Moderators Elizabeth L. Rose is Research Chair Professor of Business Policy and Strategy at the Indian Institute of Management Udaipur, having previously worked in New Zealand, the U.S., the U.K., and Finland. Beth’s research – at the intersection of IB, international entrepreneurship, and strategy – addresses various aspects of how firms internationalize and compete across borders. She is especially interested in the internationalization activities of firms from emerging markets. Beth is a Fellow of the AIB and the Australia and New Zealand International Business Academy, and was named the 2019 WAIB Woman of the Year. Beth has held leadership roles in several academic professional organizations, including the AIB, the Strategic Management Society, and the Academy of Management. These roles have given her the opportunity to work with academic associations, especially in Africa and South Asia, where she has enjoyed engaging with junior scholars to develop and extend their research capabilities. Currently, Beth is Co-Editor-in-Chief of Academy of Management Collections, a member of the senior editorial team of Journal of International Business Studies, and the Associate Editor of AIB Insights. She serves as Vice President of the Board of the European Institute for Advanced Studies in Management (EIASM). Noemi Sinkovics is Reader in International Business at the University of Glasgow’s Adam Smith Business School in the United Kingdom. She held prior roles at the University of Auckland, New Zealand, the University of Manchester, UK, and was a Fox Visiting Scholar at Temple University, USA. Through her dedication to impactful research and pedagogy, Dr. Sinkovics addresses the practical challenges businesses face in balancing global market complexities with sustainable practices. Her research interests are social, environmental, and economic upgrading in global value chains, sustainable development, and entrepreneurship. Dr. Sinkovics holds several editorial positions. She is co-editor-in-chief of Data in Brief, Associate Editor of European Management Journal and Critical Perspectives on International Business.
