Job Title: Senior Database Programmer/Analyst
Salary Target – Min. $115,793, Mid. $133,164, Max. $150,535
Closing Date: Feb 12, 2024


The primary functions of this position are to provide data support and development for the NWFSC’s Fishery Resource Analysis and Monitoring Division's at-sea research cruises. The employee will review, update, and modify existing relational databases as well develop new database designs and ETL/sync procedures. The employee will work with a diverse team that includes database professionals, developers, fisheries biologists, and other natural resource scientists.

Collaborate with current data team members to create and implement processes to modify and develop field-based and permanent relational databases for use on fishery-independent research cruises
Lead the review and modification of an existing Microsoft Access database and prepare data for migration to a more robust SQL-based database (e.g., PostgreSQL)
Evaluate compatibility of the existing Access front end with PostgreSQL backend and the existing query library with new database
Assist and support development of QA-QC validations, protocols, and queries for both at-sea/real-time and post-survey use
Compile, prepare, and migrate archived serial data files (in .csv and .db formats) for migration into permanent SQL-based database
Work as part of dynamic team of biologists, statisticians, and technical personnel
Potentially participate in at-sea research cruises
