Positions: One (1) short-term State Worker position located at the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Harrietta Field Office. This is a temporary, non-career position with up to 26 weeks (1,040 hours) between April and September, funded. The start and ending dates are flexible and will be discussed during the interview process.



Wage: State worker hourly pay rate of $15.00 - $17.15 based on previous DNR experience.



Duties: Principal duties are to assist with field sampling for fisheries assessment surveys, including the collection of angler, fish, and habitat information. Candidate will also assist with fish rearing and stocking, equipment and facility maintenance, computer data entry, and data quality assurance/quality control. Candidate will learn field skills related to fish collections and use organizational, data management, and interpersonal skills. Other duties may be assigned.



[cid:[log in to unmask]]Qualifications: Applicants should be self-starting, highly motivated individuals interested in performing fisheries-related fieldwork that often involves strenuous physical labor. Applicant must be able to lift heavy objects and work outdoors in all types of weather. Experience operating boats, small engine equipment, hand tools, and trailers would be useful. Preference will be given to applicants with prior fisheries field experience, general knowledge of fish identification, or other relatable experience. Applicant must be 18 years old and possess a valid Michigan driver's license. Work schedule may vary and include nights and potentially weekends. Employment with the DNR is subject to Civil Service rules and regulations.
