Here’s a great bird job opportunity. We have and have had several Spartans work for Bird Conservancy of the Rockies (the Executive Director is an FW alum).

See the link for more details on this position and several others with Bird Conservancy of the Rockies.

Subject: Summer job opportunity -- Bird Conservancy of the Rockies
Dear Mr. Schneider,

My name is Tyler Kerr; I’m the incoming Wyoming research crew lead for the Bird Conservancy of the Rockies. I’m reaching out in the hopes of finding candidates for our Avian Field Technician positions for the 2024 research season. Would you be able to pass this information along to any students or recent graduates with a passion for wildlife biology, who might be interested in gaining experience on one of our crews?

The specific Bird Conservancy project that I’ve contributed to, over the last several seasons, is called Integrated Monitoring in Bird Conservation Regions (IMBCR). The surveying process entails navigating to transects throughout different regions of the Great Plains and Rocky Mountains, and collecting data on habitat traits and bird diversity over the course of the nesting season. Training for this project typically takes a week in late April or May, depending on the study region, and surveying runs until late June or July. For the 2024 season, techs’ pay will start at $17.50/hour, with the potential for some overtime hours, and additional reimbursement for certain expenses (e.g. gas, campground fees, or directly work-related supplies). More detailed job descriptions for each study region, as well as application instructions, have just been posted on the Conservancy’s website at https://www.birdconservancy.org/about-us/employment/<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/www.birdconservancy.org/about-us/employment/__;!!HXCxUKc!xko-N7_zQcpvjhVaH_OQLSTbZ9VVfgBbYgdzIU2Xx3ebKS_5-fKj8YgCR3PPXhXHoCsqaPsZIaXw0UJP$> .

I hope this opportunity piques the interest of your students! Best wishes,

Tyler Kerr
