The Earth Sciences Education Research Lab (https://science.iupui.edu/earthsciences/education-research) led by Dr. Samuel Cornelius Nyarko at Indiana University Indianapolis seeks applicants for a two-year Postdoctoral Fellow to work on Discipline-Based Education Research (DBER) in the areas of the Nature of Geoscience, Teamwork Process Skills, or the broader field of Inclusion in Science Education starting August 1, 2024. The postdoc will be integral in the continued development of the IUI Earth Sciences Education Research Lab’s vision of becoming a leader in promoting Geoscience Education Research (GER). This is an ideal opportunity for someone who has the goal to develop a career focused on DBER – GER.

Responsibilities include:

  *   Working with PI and lab members which includes graduate and undergraduate students to develop research questions, designs, and methods for data collection and analysis.
  *   Mentoring graduate and undergraduate students in the lab.
  *   Contributing to the dissemination of lab products for peer-reviewed publications, conferences, and workshops.
  *   Collaborating with a team of other geoscience/STEM faculty and professionals in STEM education research.

Required Qualifications

  *   Doctoral degree in the Earth Sciences or geosciences with experience and interest in doing discipline-based education research. Candidates who will complete their doctoral degree by June 2024 can apply.
  *   Prior experience designing, implementing, and interpreting quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods of social science/education research
  *   Certification to work in the United States (Optional Practical Training, H1B)

Preferred Qualifications

  *   Experience with designing and completing Earth Sciences or geoscience education research project that has led into publication(s)/conference presentation(s)/proceeding(s) in STEM education journals and conferences.
  *   Ability to manage multiple research projects.
  *   Experience in mentoring graduate and/or undergraduate students.
