EXPLORING THE LINK BETWEEN GLOBAL HEALTH AND INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS October 18. Global Start Times: 13:00-14:30 EDT (New York City) | 18:00-19:30 BST (London) | 10:00-11:30 PST (Vancouver) The Webinar aims to explore current and emerging themes on the interface of Global Health and International Business, such as how the structure of global production and trade, including the cross-border activities of Multinational Enterprises (MNEs), impact on and are impacted by population health worldwide. Bringing together expert panelists from different disciplines, the webinar will explore how interdisciplinary research that combines insights from International Business, other social sciences, and biomedical sciences can fill knowledge gaps that can help tackle Global Health Challenges. Junghoon Park (Loyola Marymount University) will discuss how international business can contribute to the articulation of global health priorities and engage in multilevel actions toward tackling global health challenges, whereas Nicholas Freudenberg (The City University of New York, CUNY) will share insights on academic research on commercial determinants of health and how MNEs' activities influence population health outcomes globally. Andrew Jorgenson (The University of British Columbia) will present research on how the structure of global production and trade networks impact on the environment and climate change and the implications of these impacts for global health. Junghoon earned his Ph.D. from The Graduate Center and Baruch College, City University of New York. Junghoon's research expertise focuses on global sustainability strategy, inspired by a strong interest in exploring how firms can design and implement strategies to tackle pressing sustainability issues, such as climate change and public health deficiencies. The City University of New York (CUNY), US Nicholas Freudenberg Nicholas Freudenberg is Distinguished Professor of Public Health at City University of New York School of Public Health and Faculty Director of Healthy CUNY (https://www.healthycuny.org/), a university-wide effort to promote the health of CUNY students to support their academic success. His research examines the impact of food and social policies on urban food environments and health inequalities; strategies to bring the health, social and economic benefits of a college education to more students from low income, Black, Latino and immigrant communities; and public health approaches to reduce the harmful influences of commercial determinants of health. The University of British Columbia, Canada Andrew Jorgenson Andrew Jorgenson is a Professor of Sociology and Founding Director of the Climate & Society Lab<https://www.climateandsocietylab.com/> at the University of British Columbia. Working in the areas of environmental sociology, global political economy, and the sociology of development, he conducts research on the human dimensions of global and regional environmental change, with a primary focus on the societal causes and consequences of the climate crisis.
