Dean Search Universidad de los Andes School of Management

Universidad de los Andes was founded in 1948, as the first
non-denominational and non-political private university in Colombia. It is
characterized by its pluralistic and international environment, with an
emphasis on providing an integral education of individuals. At the same
time, it is the only Colombian university placed among the 300 best
universities in the world, and consistently ranked among the top 10
Latin-American universities.

The School of Management, founded in 1972, has the prestigious “Triple
Crown”, which consists of three accreditations (EQUIS, AMBA, and AACSB);
this is only held by 1% of business schools around the world. Its mission
of "Educate leaders who create value to organizations and society through
the generation of knowledge for sustainable development" is developed in a
long-term relationship with its more than 14,500 alumni and 3,000 students.

The Dean will report directly to the University's President and the
Vice-President for Academic Affairs; will be a member of the University's
Academic Council; and will serve as the leader of the School. They are
accountable to the President and the University's Board of Trustees for
promoting academic policies, activities, leadership, and for strengthening
its financial performance.

The Dean must have strong listening and communication skills, openness to
new ideas, flexibility and the ability to understand different
stakeholders’ dynamics and expectations, ability to develop a top
performing team to jointly lead the School, genuine respect for the Faculty
and School staff, academic legitimacy and a passion for the value of
management education, a commitment to pursue the interests of the School
and generate positive impact in organizations and society in general, and a
commitment to innovation and continuous improvement in teaching and
research practices.

The ideal candidate’s experience would include: strong academic credentials
and fluency in Spanish and English; demonstrated track record in: managing
a complex organization, in a role requiring engagement of a diverse range
of external and internal stakeholders, leading through legitimacy and
responsibility within an intellectual/academic environment, and financial
and administrative management; a global perspective, for example from
having lived and worked in multiple countries.

The role is full-time and based in Bogota, Colombia.
