Nature of the Special Issue

In times of changing and uncertainty, HEIs are challenged to provide knowledge and competences in different ways. HEIs are challenged to apply new pedagogical tools that stimulate students’ creativity, co-creation, teamwork, towards innovation and problem-solving. Students must be trained to deal with real problems, to understand the organizations’ challenges, to create future scenarios, to provided solutions for complex environments, and far most to work with multidisciplinary teams towards innovative solutions. In this new context, HEIs should consider retreating traditional ways of teaching, confined to expositive theoretical concepts between the receiver and the sender. HEIs should engaged in new Innovative Pedagogical Tools that create ecosystems formed by organizations (i.e., public, or private, from any sector, or dimension, driven by the will of learning and share), teachers, students, and researchers, from different technical background, and experience, united by the wish of co-creating; contributing for something new, to leverage social, environmental, and economic impact.

This Special Issue on Innovative Pedagogical Educational Tools in HEIs, attempts to gather empirical, conceptual, and theoretical contributions of HEIs Innovative Pedagogical best practices. It attempts to illustrate concepts, trends, tools, processes, facts, and strategies of how HEIs create educational ecosystems to help organizations/companies to respond to uncertainty, technological evolution, digital transformation, and resources dearth. It attempts to illustrate practices of co-creation innovation on HEIs. It attempts to describe how HEIs are changing their way of educating, by creating new ways of engaging and better prepare decision makers for the current and future challenges.

This Special Issue will share relevant information to scale up HEIs innovative methods of teaching and learning. It will attempt to help and inspire HEIs to make the transition to a stronger and more robust knowledge and competences acquisition to respond to our demanding days by co-creating added value for society.
