Dear Colleagues,

I am currently editing a book on “Digital Globalization of Creative Industries” to be published in the Edward Elgar Series on Advancing International Strategic Management and I am seeking chapter contributions on the topic.

The impact of digital technologies on businesses has been extensively studied by many business researchers for many years but recent developments in digital technologies such as AI, the Internet of Things (IoT) and blockchain have opened up new possibilities for content creation, distribution, and monetization as well as concerns about their use. However, most academic research has been conducted on industries such as manufacturing and retail that deal with physical products. Less has been published on the impacts in creative industries such as music, film, television, software, advertising, and fashion although these sectors are arguably likely to be the most affected as they rely heavily on creativity and culture in their value creation.

The business strategy implications are not merely quantitative in terms of scale and speed of production but qualitative in terms of the products and services that are enabled and the way they are accessed (Adner et al., 2019). Digital technologies have led to the creation of many new business models in creative industries (Li, 2020), for example, music streaming services such as Spotify and Pandora, movie streaming services such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, and e-commerce platforms such as Etsy, creating opportunities and challenges for artists and content creators in the creative industries (Chen et al., 2021) as well as MNEs in their international business strategies (Verbeke & Hutzschenreuter, 2021). This has implications not only for businesses but for international business theories (Nambisan and Luo), 2021).
This book aims to trace the impacts of digital globalization in different creative industries worldwide, showing the diverse global impacts of digital technologies and the implications for international strategic management in the creative industries.

Examples of possible topics include (but are not limited to) the following:
