About the collection:

Herbicide-resistant weeds are a challenging problem for farmers globally. Recent estimates for the prairie region alone suggest that herbicide-resistant weeds cost farmers an estimated $530 million annually in decreased crop yields and quality and increased weed control expenses. There is an immediate need to forge new paths to mitigate and manage herbicide-resistant weeds in Canada.

This collection invites new research, reviews, and discussion articles that focus on herbicide-resistant weed mitigation, monitoring, and management. Topics in scope include herbicide-resistant weed confirmation, documentation, resistance mechanisms, biology and ecology, novel weed management practices, and integrated weed management in horticultural and grain cropping systems. Articles may include research conducted elsewhere but should be relevant to continental agriculture in Canada.

Deadline for expressions of interest: August 31, 2023

Please submit abstracts of up to 250 words in length to propose original articles. Prospective authors should submit an email to guest editor Jichul Bae ([log in to unmask]) with the tentative title of the manuscript and an abstract. Authors of accepted abstracts will be notified directly. We will aim to publish this collection by March 2024, with a final submission deadline in January 2024.

About the Canadian Journal of Plant Science:

Established in 1921 and affiliated with the Canadian Weed Science Society/Société Canadienne de malherbologie, Canadian Society of Agronomy, and the Canadian Society for Horticultural Science, the Canadian Journal of Plant Science publishes new research on all aspects of plant science relevant to continental climate agriculture, including plant production and management; horticulture; and pest management. The journal also publishes cross-disciplinary research in the application of technology, plant breeding, genetics, physiology, biotechnology, microbiology, soil management, economics, meteorology, post-harvest biology, and plant production systems.
