Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in International Business

 

 

 

Position:  The Auburn University Harbert College of Business seeks applications for a nine-month, non-tenure track, non-tenure eligible full-time teaching faculty position in International Business Operations starting in August 2023. The contract is renewed annually based on need, funding, and performance. The position can be filled as a lecturer/senior lecturer depending on the background and experience of the candidate.  This nine-month position is designed to support the International Business Program of Auburn University’s Harbert College of Business.

 

Responsibilities: The primary responsibility of this position is to teach undergraduate and graduate international business courses, assist in developing and delivering study abroad programs, and support the growth of international linkages with elite institutions world-wide.  The successful candidate will be expected to bring experience, innovation, enthusiasm, technology, and leadership to their international courses.  

 

Candidates with an industry or governmental agency background with a teaching record in international business operations or related field are strongly preferred. Under typical circumstances, the teaching load for the position will be three to four courses per semester, which includes course development and course management activities. In addition to instructional duties, successful candidates will be expected to help develop, promote, and deliver study abroad programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.  Candidates should be comfortable in teaching different modalities including face to face, online, and hybrid face to face & online. Salary and rank are commensurate with experience.

 

 

Job Qualifications: Because this is a teaching intensive position, candidates must have a record of high-quality teaching experience and/or significant industry/government experience focusing on international business operations. Candidates must have a record of successfully developing and delivering study abroad programs.  Successful candidates will be required to possess a Master’s degree or higher in business or an appropriate related discipline area at the time employment begins. Candidates with a Ph.D. desired.  Selected candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of appointment and continue working legally for the term of employment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.

 

About the Program: The International Business Operations courses support all undergraduate majors and graduate programs in the Harbert College of Business. At the graduate level, the course is attached to a study abroad experience.  At the undergraduate level, the course is an elective that stands alone and has the potential to serve all Harbert College students.  The International Business Operations course(s) is also embedded in all summer study abroad programs.  Further, the undergraduate course supports Auburn University’s Strategic Plan to Internationalize students by being offered to all majors.  Harbert’s International Study Abroad Programs began 27 years ago and have been delivered on six continents in over 35 countries.  Programs range from 10 days for graduate programs to 12 weeks for undergraduate programs.
