We are looking to appoint a Research Fellow in Digital Entrepreneurship. This is a three-year full-time post with the potential for further extension if we are successful in our research bidding activities.

The University of Huddersfield is an award-winning, successful, and modern University. Inspirational and innovative research is at the core of our vision. You will be based in the Department of Management within Huddersfield Business School with a wealth of researchers who contribute to the three research centres in the School and may also be working with colleagues from the School of Computing & Engineering and the School of Arts and Humanities.

Research project areas

Information technology development and infrastructure advances create new opportunities for entrepreneurs and businesses. Digitalisation is shifting the business environment as well as entrepreneurial activities. Digital entrepreneurship, broadly defined as creating new ventures and transforming existing businesses by using digital technologies on particular platforms, is an essential part of the Digital Economy. This project aims to understand the process of digital entrepreneurship and what influences success in live streaming by addressing several key questions, including but not limited to 1) Who are more likely to become live streaming entrepreneurs or influencers on live streaming platforms, and why? 2) What skill sets can enhance an entrepreneurial streamer or influencer’s success, which may differ for traditional businesses, and 3) what are the critical stakeholders of digital entrepreneurship ecosystems? How can they interact and encourage digital innovation and entrepreneurial success?

You will hold a Doctoral Qualification in a social science discipline and be expected to work with the cross-disciplinary and multidisciplinary team across faculties in collaboration with the industry.

The Research Fellow will be required to:

- Conduct literature review studies on one or more of the above thematic areas.
- Help in developing research bidding proposals for winning entrepreneurship projects.
- Conduct primary quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis. The capacity to do independent mixed-method research will be highly appreciated.
- Publish in leading peer-reviewed journals.
- Support some of our teaching and business engagement activities.
