as they are many direct flights from Warsaw to Corfu.
Corfu or Kerkyra as it is known in Greek is one of the most famous Greek islands and indeed a very popular travel destination ranking among the top 10 in Greece. Corfu has
a very ancient and rich heritage. It is the Homeric home of the Phaeacians who aid Odysseus in his quest to return to his home of Ithaca. Corfu, in antiquity known as Corcyra, was a great naval and commercial power and an original colony of the city of Corinth.
It was the apple of discord that led to the Peloponnesian War in ancient Greece between Athens and Sparta and their respective allies.
The island was part of the Byzantine empire for centuries and became part of the Republic of Venice around 1400 under which rule it remained for almost 400 years. Under the Venetians,
Corfu developed its unique culture, a mixture of East and West. This becomes evident in all aspects of life and art including painting, architecture, cuisine, language, music and many more. The island is truly a unique civilizational melting pot. The city’s
old town was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2007. It is an island full of archaeological sites of all eras, beautiful architecture, wonderful beaches and exquisite cuisine.
The abstract/paper submission deadline is April 30th, 2023. For more information, please visit the conference’s website:
