The Wallace Center is thrilled to announce a
Request for Applications
to solicit applicants for our subaward program with the U.S. EPA’s Gulf of Mexico Division for the Mississippi River Region. Through this program, Wallace Center will work with an advisory group to support up to 20 organizations collaborating with underserved
farmers to improve environmental outcomes in the Mississippi River Region.
The goals of this subaward program are to:

Work directly with Native American farmers and/or other
historically underserved farmers on novel or innovative techniques, methods, or approaches that reduce nonpoint source pollution and increase the
sustainability and resiliency of their operations;

Leverage partnerships to increase knowledge sharing and collaboration within and among historically underserved communities;
·
Collect and analyze data to demonstrates the results of funded projects;
·
Disseminate results to communities to inform future conservation or management practices and expand adoption of the most cost-effective and sustainable
approaches
This is a
fantastic opportunity to get federal dollars to organizations in the Mississippi River Basin to support farmer conservation leaders and improve environmental outcomes of agriculture in the region.
The Wallace Center will provide subawards to a maximum of 20 organizations that will receive subaward grants ranging from
$75,000 to $250,000. Proposed activities for this program must fall entirely within the Upper and Lower Mississippi River Region (Gulf drainage portions of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Louisiana).
As part of this program, the Wallace Center will host
three informational webinars
to introduce the program, discuss grantee support and compliance requirements, and answer questions about the application process itself (March 22 & April 5 at 12 PM CT, April 11 at 6 PM CT).
The Wallace Center is accepting concept notes (a brief outline of a project idea, rather than a full proposal) through
May 1, to be assessed competitively against other applications by a review panel. Selected applicants will be invited to the next phase of the project –the co-design phase– during which selected grantees will design full proposals with support from Wallace
Center, program advisors, and other grantees.
