Subject: Job opportunities in the Wisconsin DNR Office of Applied Science

Hi all,

I hope this email finds you all well. I’m excited to announce some fisheries job opportunities for the fisheries research program of the Wisconsin DNR at the Escanaba Lake Research Station in Boulder Junction and at our office in Spooner. I’d be most appreciative if you’d send these opportunities to your fisheries students, specific students that you may think would be interested, and to your professional networks. Thanks for your help in getting these announcements out there and have a great weekend all.

Greg

The Fisheries Research program within the Office of Applied Science of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is excited to announce several job opportunities at the Northern Highland Fisheries Research Area in Boulder Junction and in Spooner. We will be hiring a fisheries technician in Spooner. We will be hiring 1-2 fisheries technicians and a fisheries biologist in Boulder Junction. These positions provide diverse opportunities to be involved with all aspects of high priority research being conducted by the Fisheries Research program. Job duties in each position include field fisheries surveys including fyke netting, gill netting, and electrofishing, limnological, zooplankton, and macroinvertebrate sampling, and fish behavioral research with acoustic and radio telemetry. Experience will also be gained in conducting creel surveys and in data summarization, analysis, visualization, and analysis. The Office of Applied Science is unique in promoting independent fisheries research experiences with the incumbents in these positions that are mentored by our research scientists and the fisheries research team leader. These positions in the beautiful and lake-rich Northwoods of Wisconsin provide a wealth of opportunities to gain fisheries experience beneficial to emerging and young fisheries professionals as well as those interested in attending graduate school. Please find links to the positions and instructions to apply below. For any questions about the positions, please contact fisheries research team leader, Greg Sass ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>, 715-891-1875).
