DLZ Michigan, Inc. is seeking candidates for an Environmental Scientist-Biologist position in our Lansing, Michigan office.



Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  *   Ecological and aquatic investigations including surface water quality monitoring, benthic invertebrate and fish surveys, wetland delineations and wetland mitigation monitoring, and stream habitat studies
  *   Perform vegetation and tree surveys, protected species habitat evaluations, field sampling, and natural resource assessments
  *   Desktop data collection for threatened and endangered species review, wetland assessments, and general site background information
  *   Prepare state and federal permit applications
  *   Perform work with general guidance and supervision or provide support to more experienced personnel.
  *   Responsible for some projects of minor to moderate complexity.
  *   Data analysis and report writing
  *   Prepare NEPA compliance documents
  *   Perform other various field and office duties as assigned



 Qualifications & Skills:

  *   Bachelor’s Degree in environmental sciences, fisheries & wildlife, zoology, or other relevant major
  *   4-8 years of relevant experience
  *   Ability to identify fish, amphibians, reptiles, and mammals
  *   Ability to identify a wide variety of plants and trees
  *   Willingness & ability to quickly learn new tasks and procedures/critical thinking
  *   Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  *   Ability to work and thrive in a team environment
  *   Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  *   Ability to self-motivate and work productively with limited supervision
  *   Working knowledge of software programs including Microsoft Office Suite, Survey 123, and ArcGIS
  *   Perform work with general guidance and supervision or provide support to more experienced personnel.
  *   Responsible for some projects of minor to moderate complexity.
  *   Must be able to travel approximately 25% of the time for field work with overnight stays occasionally required.
  *   Must have a satisfactory driving record, and the ability to pass a background investigation and drug testing.
